Marisa Tomei is an American actress who has had a successful run both as a television and film actress. Tomei first tried her hand at television; her act of Marcy Thompson for the show ‘As the World Turns’ being her debut venture. She came to limelight with the 1987 show ‘A Different World’.
Tomei’s film career started simultaneously as her television career. After a bevy of minor roles, she first came to international attention in 1992 with the comedy ‘My Cousin Vinny’. Her role of Mona Lisa Vito, her best ever till date, earned her an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Eventually, film offers came rolling in for Tomei who featured in a number of successful movies, including ‘What Women Want’, ‘Anger Management’, ‘Wild Hogs’, and ‘Parental Guidance’. Some of the other hit films in her filmography includes ‘Untamed Heart’, ‘The Paper’, ‘Unhook the Stars’, ‘Slums of Beverly Hills’, ‘In the Bedroom’, ‘Before the Devil Knows You're Dead’, ‘The Wrestler’ and ‘Love is Strange’.
Her role in the films ‘In The Bedroom’ and ‘The Wrestler’ earned her two more Academy Award nominations. Recently, Tomei portrayed the character of Aunt May in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, for films ‘Captain America: Civil War’ and ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’.
