William H. Macy is an American actor and director, who started his career as a theatre actor. He appeared in more than 50 ‘Broadway’ and ‘Off-Broadway’ plays, before making his screen debut in the TV miniseries ‘The Awakening Land’ (1978). He had his first starring role in the medical drama ‘ER’ (1994-2009). His other popular roles came in shows such as ‘Sports Night’ (1999-2000), ‘Out of Order’ (2003), and ‘The Unit’ (2007). He was the narrator in the 2006 animated series ‘Curious George.’ He made his film debut in the 1980 film ‘Foolin’ Around.’ His first starring role came in the 1966 black comedy ‘Fargo.’ His other films include ‘Sahara’ (2005), ‘Cake’ (2014), and ‘Blood Father’ (2016). Macy has received two ‘Emmy Awards’ and four ‘Screen Actors Guild Awards,’ along with an ‘Academy Award’ nomination for ‘Fargo.’ He currently plays ‘Frank Gallagher’ in TV show ‘Shameless’ (2011-present).
