Matthew McConaughey is an American actor who rose to fame for his breakthrough role in the coming-of-age comedy film 'Dazed and Confused' (1993). Despite good performance in his next major role in 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation' (1994), the film was a failure. However, he bounced back with many successful films including 'Lone Star' (1996), 'A Time to Kill' (1996), 'Amistad' (1997), 'Contact' (1997), and 'U-571' (2000).
His filmography in the next decade consisted of primarily romantic comedies like 'The Wedding Planner' (2001), 'How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days' (2003), 'Failure to Launch' (2006), 'Fool's Gold' (2008), and 'Ghosts of Girlfriends Past' (2009). Later, he switched to more dramatic roles in films such as 'The Lincoln Lawyer' (2011), 'Bernie' (2011), 'Killer Joe' (2011), 'The Paperboy' (2012), 'Mud' (2012), 'Magic Mike' (2012), 'The Wolf of Wall Street' (2013), 'The Sea of Trees' (2016) and 'Free State of Jones' (2016).
Some of his best roles came in more recent films; the 'Academy Award'-winning role as Ron Woodroof in the biographical film 'Dallas Buyers Club' (2013), Emmy nominated role in the crime-drama series 'True Detective' (2014), and astronaut Cooper in Christopher Nolan's top grossing sci-fi film 'Interstellar' (2014).
