Alfonso Lincoln Ribeiro Sr. began his career as a child-artist in theater. His first screen-appearance was on the TV-series ‘OYE Willie’ (1980), followed by a ‘Pepsi’ ad with Michael Jackson.
Thereafter, Ribeiro received a series-regular role as Rick Schroder’s best friend, ‘Alfonso Spears,’ in season 3-5 of the sitcom ‘Silver Spoons’ (1984-1987). He then appeared in TV-movies ‘John Grin’s Christmas’ (1986) and ‘The Mighty Pawns’ (1987).
Ribeiro got his breakthrough as ‘Carlton Banks,’ the cousin of Will Smith’s character, in ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’ (1990-1996). His repeated dance-routine, ‘The Carlton Dance,’ made the character popular winning him ‘Image Award for Best Supporting Actor.’
Ribeiro featured in the direct-to-video horror movie ‘Ticks’ (1993) and provided voice in the animated series ‘Spider-Man’ (1994-1998), and ‘Extreme Ghostbusters’ (1997). His next major role was as ‘Dr. Maxwell Stanton’ in the sitcom ‘In the House’ (1996-1999). After hosting the second season of the talent-show ‘Your Big Break’ (2000), he won the reality-show ‘Celebrity Duet’ (2006). Around the same time, Ribeiro directed several episodes of various TV series, including ‘In the House’ (1997-1998), ‘All of Us’ (2006-2007), ‘Meet the Browns’ (2009-2010), and ‘Are We There Yet’ (2011-2012).
Ribeiro hosted the interactive-show ‘GSN Live’ (2008-2009), the game-show ‘Catch 21’ (2008-2011), and the spelling-bee game-show ‘Spell-Mageddon’ (2013). The revival of ‘Catch 21’ (2019-present) earned him two Emmy nominations for ‘Outstanding Game Show Host.’
After his participation in the British reality-show ‘I’m Celebrity….Get Me out of Here!’ (2013), Ribeiro, with professional dancer Witney Carson, won Season 19 of the dance-competition series ‘Dancing with the Stars’ (2014). In 2015, he began hosting ‘America’s Funniest Home Videos’ (2015-present). He was a guest-judge in ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ in 2018 & 2019.
Love Wrecked is a romantic comedy adventure film which tells the story of Jenny, a young woman who is marooned on an island with her favorite rock star Jason. Wanting to spend more time with him, she tries to hide the fact that they are not that far away from safety.
