Billy West started his career in Boston’s radio station ‘WBCN.’ He made his debut as a voice actor in the television animated series ‘The New Adventures of Beany and Cecil’ in 1988. The show was canceled after airing 5 episodes. In 1991, he joined the cast of the American animated television series ‘Doug.’ He voiced several characters in the series including Douglas Yancey "Doug" Funnie and ‘Roger Klotz.’ West remained on the show until 1994. Right after his exit from ‘Doug,’ West starred in animated series like ‘The Shnookums and Meat Funny Cartoon Show’ and ‘The Baby Huey Show.’ He made his big-screen debut in the 1996 American musical-comedy film ‘Joe's Apartment’ where he gave voice to the character ‘Ralph.’ The film opened to negative reviews from critics and was a box office bomb. That same year, he also voiced ‘Bugs Bunny’ and ‘Elmer Fudd’ in the American live-action/animated sports comedy film ‘Space Jam.’ The film was a major box office success, grossing over $250.2 million against a budget of $80 million.
West returned to television and gave his voice in shows like ‘Earthworm Jim’ (1996), ‘Timon & Pumbaa’ (1996-1999), ‘Dexter's Laboratory’ (1996-2003), ‘The Wacky World of Tex Avery’ (1997-1998), ‘I Am Weasel’ (1997-2000), ‘Histeria!’ (1998-2000), and ‘The Powerpuff Girls’ (1998-2005). In 1999, he became a part of the American animated science fiction sitcom ‘Futurama.’ He voiced several characters on the show, including ‘Philip J. Fry,’ ‘Professor Farnsworth,’ ‘Richard Nixon.’ The show initially ran from 1999 to 2003 on FOX. After its cancellation, ‘Futurama’ began airing reruns on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim programming block from 2003 to 2009. The show was revived for the third time in 2009 by Comedy Central where it ran till 2013.Â
In 2002, he joined the voice cast of the computer-animated television series ‘The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius’ where he gave voice to ‘Sam Melvick.’ He remained a part of the show until it went off-air in 2006. In 2003, he was seen voicing Principal Razinski’ in the animated superhero comedy television series ‘My Life as a Teenage Robot.’ The show received mostly positive reviews and aired its final episode in 2009. West next appeared in shows like ‘Drawn Together’ (2006-2007), ‘Rick & Steve: The Happiest Gay Couple in All the World’ (2007-2009), ‘Jungle Junction’ (2009-2012), ‘The Looney Tunes Show’ (2011-2014), ‘The Stinky & Dirty Show’ (2015-2019), and ‘Wacky Races’ (2017-2019). He is currently seen in the animated series ‘Rockin' South,’ in which he voices ‘Mortimer Mousewell.’ He is also a part of the adult satirical fantasy animated sitcom ‘Disenchantment.’ In 2020, West joined the British satirical television puppet show ‘Spitting Image’ where he voices various characters, including ‘Joe Biden,’ ‘William Shatner,’ and ‘Mark Zuckerberg.’
