Tom Kenny made his acting debut with the 1989 romantic comedy film ‘How I Got Into College.’ The following year, he made his television debut with the music video show ‘Friday Night Videos.’ In 1991, he starred as ‘Binky the Clown’ in the black comedy film ‘Shakes the Clown.’ The film received a mixed response from critics and was not successful at the box office.
In 1993, Tom Kenny made his debut as a voice actor in the animated television series ‘Rocko's Modern Life’ where he voiced the character ‘Heffer Wolfe.’ From this point on, Kenny became largely invested in voice-over roles and went on to give his voice in several animated series such as ‘Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist’ (1995), ‘Dexter's Laboratory’ (1996-2003), ‘Johnny Bravo’ (1997-2004), ‘I Am Weasel’ (1998), and ‘Godzilla: The Series’ (1998).
In the year 1999, Kenny joined the animated comedy series ‘SpongeBob SquarePants.’ He is still a part of the series where he lends his voice to various characters such as ‘SpongeBob SquarePants,’ ‘Gary,’ ‘French Narrator’, and ‘Patchy the Pirate.’ He has also been awarded 2 ‘Daytime Emmy Awards’ for his performance in the series.
Tom Kenny has given his voice to numerous television series and films. Some of his popular works as a voice artist include ‘Rocko’s Modern Life’ (1993-1996), ‘The Powerpuff Girls’ (1998-2005), ‘CatDog’ (1998-2005), and ‘Adventure Time’ (2010-2018).
Apart from his voice roles, Kenny has also played live-action roles in several films such as ‘Plughead Rewired: Circuitry Man II’ (1994), ‘Run Ronnie Run!’ (2002), ‘Surviving Christmas’ (2004), ‘Sky High’ (2005), and ‘World's Greatest Dad’ (2009). His last live-action film was the 2017 biographical sports film ‘Battle of the Sexes’ directed by Valerie Faris and Jonathan Dayton. He played the role of ‘Bob Sanders’ in the film. He has also starred in many television series and shows such as ‘Malibu Shores’ (1996), ‘Just Shoot Me’ (1997-1998), ‘Windy City Heat’ (2003), and ‘The SpongeBob Musical: Live on Stage!’ (2019).
