Kyra Sedgwick made her screen debut in the American television soap opera ‘Another World’ in 1982. She played the role of ‘Julia Shearer’ and remained a part of the show until 1983. She made her silver screen debut in the 1985 American drama film ‘War and Love’ directed by Moshé Mizrahi. In 1986, she starred as ‘Tess Brock’ in the Daryl Duke-directed adventure drama film, ‘Tai-Pan.’ The film was poorly received by critics and was a commercial failure.
