Gabourey Sidibe made her debut in the 2009 American drama film ‘Precious’ directed by Lee Daniels. Area Film Critics Association Award,’ and ‘Satellite Award’ along with an ‘Academy Award’ nomination. ‘Precious’ was well-received by critics and did decent business at the box office, grossing over $63.6 million against a budget of $10 million. In 2010, she became a part of the American television dramedy ‘The Big C.’ She played the role of ‘Andrea Jackson’ and remained a part of the show until it went off-air in 2013. She starred as ‘Latonya Williams’ in the 2011 American drama film ‘Yelling to the Sky’ directed by Victoria Mahoney. The film was widely praised by critics. She next appeared in the 2019 American comedy-drama film ‘Come as You Are’ directed by Richard Wong. The film garnered praise from critics and scored an approval rating of 95% on Rotten Tomatoes. Sidibe was last seen in the 2020 American thriller film ‘Antebellum’ where she played the role of ‘Dawn.’ The film saw mixed reviews upon release.
