Tobey Maguire is an American actor and producer widely recognized for portraying Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Sam Raimi's top grossing 'Spider-Man' film trilogy (2002, 2004, & 2007). Some of his other best roles include playing David in the fantasy comedy-drama film 'Pleasantville' (1998), Homer Wells in the drama film 'The Cider House Rules' (1999), James Leer in the comedy drama 'Wonder Boys' (2000), Red Pollard in the sports film 'Seabiscuit' (2003), Corporal Patrick Tully in the thriller 'The Good German' (2006), Sam Cahill in the psychological war drama 'Brothers' (2009), and Nick Carraway in the period drama film 'The Great Gatsby' (2013).
Starting his career with a non-speaking part in 'The Wizard' (1989), he went on to do small roles in the sitcoms 'Roseanne' and 'Blossom' in 1991. He then landed a lead role in the short-lived Fox sitcom 'Great Scott!' (1992) which was cancelled after nine weeks. He got his breakthrough role in the 1997 drama film 'The Ice Storm' as Paul Hood, for which he received praise from critics and subsequently bagged lead roles in successful films. In recent times, he co-produced 'Good People' (2012) and produced and starred in 'Pawn Sacrifice' (2014), both of which were box-office failures.
