Wanda Sykes made her debut in the 1997 late-night comedy talk show ‘The Chris Rock Show’ in which she appeared as various characters. The following year, she made her movie debut in the Louis C.K-directed comedy film ‘Tomorrow Night.’ In the year 2000, Wanda Sykes starred in the science fiction black comedy ‘Nutty Professor II: The Klumps.’ Even though the movie was panned by the critics, it still managed to achieve commercial success. She returned to television with the sketch comedy series ‘The Downer Channel’ in 2001. That same year, she also became a part of the television sitcom ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm.’
In 2002, Wanda starred in the television comedy show ‘Crank Yankers.’ She then went on to appear in comedy series, such as ‘Wanda at Large’ (2003), ’Mad TV’ (2003), ‘Wanda Does It’ (2004), and ‘Will & Grace’ (2006).
In 2006, Wanda Sykes appeared in the television sitcom series ‘The New Adventures of Old Christine.’ She played the role of ‘Barbara "Barb" Baran’ and was a part of the main cast of the show. The following year, Wanda lent her voice to the character ‘Bessy’ in the CGI animated series ‘Back at the Barnyard.’
Wanda Skyes appeared on television shows like ‘White House Correspondents' Dinner’ (2009), ‘The Wanda Sykes Show’ (2009), ‘Drop Dead Diva’ (2011), ‘Real Husbands of Hollywood’ (2013), and ‘Repeat After Me’ (2015).
Besides being famous for her work on television, she has also appeared in several films, including ‘Monster-in-Law’ (2005), ‘My Super Ex-Girlfriend’ (2006), ‘License to Wed’ (2007), and ‘Evan Almighty,’ (2007),. She has also voiced various characters in a number of animated films like ‘Over the Hedge’ (2006), ‘Brother Bear 2’ (2006), ‘Rio’ (2011), ‘Ice Age: Continental Drift’ (2012), and ‘Ice Age: Collision Course’ (2016).
In 2021, she voiced the character ‘Deb’ in the adult animated comedy series ‘Q Force.’ Currently, Wanda Skyes is a part of the sitcom show ‘Black-ish.’ She is also seen in the television comedy series ‘The Other Two’ where she plays the role of ‘Shuli Kucerac.’
