That same year, he also appeared in the Sharat Katariya-directed Indian Hindi-language drama film ‘Sui Dhaaga’ where he portrayed ‘Mauji Sharma.’ The film received positive reviews from critics and was a major financial success, grossing over ₹125.09 crores on a budget of ₹48 crores.
In 2019, Dhawan portrayed Zafar Chaudhary in the Indian Hindi-language period romantic film ‘Kalank’ directed by Abhishek Varman. The film received mixed reviews from critics and was a commercial failure. He was next seen in the 2020 Indian Hindi-language dance film ‘Street Dancer 3D’ directed by Remo D'Souza. The film saw mostly negative reviews upon release. The same year also saw the release of the Indian Hindi-language comedy masala film ‘Coolie No. 1’ where Dhawan played the role of ‘Raju Coolie / Kuwar Raj Pratap Singh.’ The film was largely panned by critics. He was last seen in the 2021 Indian Hindi-language action film ‘Antim: The Final Truth’ where he made a special appearance in the song "Vighnaharta."
