Maggie Fitzgerald, a poor waitress, asks old gym owner Frankie Dunn to train her, but he refuses. Maggie is encouraged to train at his gym by his associate Eddie 'Scrap-Iron' Dupris and eventually convinces Dunn with her determination. Maggie, who has a dysfunctional family, and Dunn, whose daughter is estranged, gradually fill the voids in each other's lives.

Hiccup must not only rescue the dragons from Drago’s army but reunite with his mother Valka, Stoic’s long-lost wife.
