David Simon is an American journalist, actor, producer, and TV writer. He is best known as the creator, main writer, and executive producer of the ‘HBO’ series ‘The Wire,’ from 2002 to 2008. He started his career as a police reporter at ‘The Baltimore Sun,’ in 1982 and worked there for 12 years. He made his TV debut as the story editor and producer for the police procedural TV show ‘Homicide: Life on the Street’ (1996-99). He made his debut as a writer in the ‘NYPD Blue’ (1996). As a producer and writer, he worked on TV shows, such as, ‘The Corner’ (2000), ‘Generation Kill’ (2008), ‘Treme’ (2010-13), and ‘The Deuce’ (2017-18). As an actor, he made his debut as a suspect on the TV show ‘Homicide: Life on the Street’ (1998). His other appearances came in TV shows, such as ‘The Corner’ (2000) and ‘The Wire’ (2003-06).
