Outraged at US government's betrayal of the Natives, Colonel William Ludlow has raised his three sons, Alfred, Tristan and Samuel, away from society in the remote Montana Mountains. When naive Samuel brings his fiancée Susannah home, Alfred falls for her and she becomes attracted to Tristan, starting a chain of betrayals that follow the brothers to WWI.
