Audra McDonald made her film debut in the 1996 English-language German comedy-drama ‘Seven Servants’ directed by Daryush Shokof. The film had its premiere at the 1996 Locarno Film Festival and received positive reviews from critics upon release. In 1998, she played the role of a wedding singer in the American romantic comedy-drama film ‘The Object of My Affection’ directed by Nicholas Hytner. The film opened to a mixed critical reception and grossed over $46.9 million on a budget of $15 million. She was next seen in films like Cradle Will Rock’ (1999), ‘It Runs in the Family’ (2003), and ‘The Best Thief in the World’ (2004). In 2007, she joined the cast of the American medical drama television series ‘Private Practice’ created by Shonda Rhimes.
