Jenna Coleman began her acting career in 2005 when she joined the cast of the television soap opera ‘Emmerdale.’ She played the role of ‘Jasmine Thomas’ in the show which became one of her best television performances. In 2009, Coleman starred as ‘Lindsay James’ in the television drama series ‘Waterloo.’
Jenna Coleman made her movie debut in the 2011 superhero film ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’ directed by Joe Johnston. The film became a massive success at the box office and is considered to be Coleman’s highest-grossing film. In 2012, she got her breakthrough role as ‘Clara Oswald’ in the science fiction television series ‘Doctor Who.’ She won ‘TV Times Award’ and ‘Glamour Awards’ for her performance and remained a part of the show till 2015. Jenna returned as ‘Clara Oswald’ in a special episode of ‘Doctor Who’ in 2017.
Following her success in ‘Doctor Who,’ Jenna Coleman starred in the main cast of ‘Death Comes to Pemberley’ (2013), ‘Victoria’ (2016-2019), ‘The Cry’ (2018), and ‘The Serpent’ (2021). She is all set to appear as ‘Johanna Constantine I / Johanna Constantine II’ in the upcoming fantasy streaming television series ‘The Sandman.’
Besides film and television, Jenna Coleman has also acted on stage, in numerous plays including ‘Summer Holiday’ (1996), ‘Crystal Clear’ (2004), ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ (2009), and ‘All My Sons’ (2019).
