Russell Crowe made his film debut in the 1990 Australian drama film ‘Blood Oath’ (also known as ‘Prisoners of the Sun’) directed by Stephen Wallace. He was next seen in films like ‘Proof’ (1991), ‘Romper Stomper’ (1992), ‘Hammers Over the Anvil’ (1993), ‘The Silver Brumby’ (1993), and ‘The Sum of Us’ (1994). The year 1995 saw the release of the American Revisionist Western film ‘The Quick and the Dead’ where Crowe played the role of ‘Cort.’ While the film received mixed reviews from critics, it didn’t perform well at the box office. Â
After starring in films like ‘No Way Back’ (1995), ‘L.A. Confidential’ (1997), ‘Breaking Up’ (1997), and ‘Mystery, Alaska’ (1999), Crowe got his breakthrough role in the 1999 American drama film ‘The Insider.’ His performance as ‘Jeffrey Stephen Wigand’ received mass acclaim and earned him several nominations including the ‘Academy Award’ and ‘Golden Globe Award’ nominations. Crowe gained international fame for portraying the Roman General, ‘Maximus Decimus Meridius,’ in 2000 Ridley Scott-directed historical-epic 'Gladiator.' Russell Crowe is all set to appear in the upcoming war drama film ‘The Greatest Beer Run Ever’ directed by Peter Farrelly. He will also make a cameo appearance in the upcoming superhero film ‘Thor: Love and Thunder.’
