N.T. Rama Rao Jr. is known for his work in Telugu cinema. He appeared as a child artist in the mythological Telugu film ‘‘Ramayanam’ in 1996, which won the ‘National Film Award for Best Children’s Film.’ He was selected to act in ‘Student No. 1’ (2000), but opted out because the film was taking too long to complete. He later made his debut as an adult actor in the romantic drama ‘Ninnu Choodalani’ in 2000. After a few average films, he appeared in the hit movie ‘Aadi’ (2002), which was one of the highest grossers in Telugu cinema that year. Rao went through a transitional period when he turned to more serious roles from his initial youth look. During this period he did not have much success till he made a breakthrough with his role as ‘Raja’ in the fantasy action comedy film ‘Yamadonga’ (2007), for which he won a ‘Filmfare Award for Best Actor’ in Telugu. His ‘Aravinda Sametha’ is an all-time highest grossing film of his career.
