An outspoken environmental, anti-war and political activist, and actress, Margot Kidder started her acting career with ‘The Best Damn Fiddler from Calabogie to Kaladar,’ a 49-minute film in 1968. Her big break came in 1969 with ‘Gaily, Gaily,’ a comedy which was her first major feature.
In 1970, she was seen in ‘Quackser Fortune Has a Cousin in the Bronx,’ where she played the lead. However, it was in 1978 that she rose to fame with ‘Superman film series.’ She gained further mainstream exposure in 1979 with blockbuster film ‘The Amityville Horror,’ where she performed the role of Kathy Lutz.
Some of her other phenomenal performances, include ‘The Great Waldo Pepper,’ ‘Sisters,’ and ‘Black Christmas.’ Her career began to slow down by the end of the 1980s. She had a highly blazoned manic episode and nervous breakdown in 1996. She maintained steady work in television and independent films in the 2000s and was seen in ‘The Vagina Monologues,’ ‘Smallville, Brothers and Sisters,’ and ‘The Haunting Hour.’
