Hema Malini is an Indian actress, dancer, producer and politician. She made her acting debut with the Tamil film ‘Ithu Sathiyam’ (1961). Her first Hindi film was ‘Sapno Ka Saudagar’ (1968) which was a commercial success.
Known as "Dream Girl" of Bollywood, the actress has appeared in over 150 films till date. Some of her most successful movies of 1970s are 'Johny Mera Naam' (1970), 'Paraya Dhan' (1971), 'Naya Zamana' (1971), 'Tere Mere Sapne' (1971), 'Andaz' (1971), 'Seeta Aur Geeta' (1972), 'Raja Jani' (1972), 'Gora Aur Kala' (1972), 'Bhai Ho To Aisa' (1972), 'Amir Garib' (1974), 'Prem Nagar' (1974), 'Patthar Aur Payal' (1974). That decade also saw the release of Hema Malini’s highest –grossing movies including 'Sanyasi' (1975), 'Pratigya' (1975), 'Sholay' (1975), 'Aap Beati' (1976), 'Dus Numbri' (1976), 'Dream Girl' (1977) and 'Trishul' (1978). After that, she appeared in the hits 'The Burning Train' (1980), 'Bandish' (1980), 'Naseeb' (1981), 'Meri Aawaz Suno' (1981), 'Satte Pe Satta' (1982), 'Nastik' (1983), 'Andha Kanoon' (1983) and 'Baghban' (2003).
Hema Malini has also done several projects that failed badly at the box office. 'Aansoo Aur Muskan' (1970), 'Meera' (1979), 'Ram Tera Desh' (1984), 'Durga' (1985), 'Hirasat' (1987), and 'Shadyantra' (1990) are some of her worst movies.
