Dino De Laurentiis was an Italian film producer and actor, best known for producing films such as ‘La Strada’ (1954),’ King Kong’ (1976), ‘The Dead Zone’ (1983), ‘Evil Dead II’ (1987), and ‘Army of Darkness (1992). He is one of the few Italian producers who put the country’s cinema on an international pedestal. He co-produced more than 500 films in his career. He also earned 38 ‘Academy Award’ nominations for his films. His first film was ‘L'ultimo Combattimento (1940). In 1980s, he established ‘De Laurentiis Entertainment Group,’ a film studio in the US. Some of his other popular films are ‘The Scientific Cardplayer’ (1972), ‘Conan the Barbarian’ (1982), ‘Blue Velvet’ (1986) and ‘Breakdown’ (1997). His unsuccessful projects include ‘Eighteen Year Olds’ (1955), and ‘Body of Evidence’ (1992). As an actor, he appeared in films such as ‘L'orologio a cucù’ (1938), ‘Small Hotel’ (1939), and ‘The Last Fight’ (1941).
