The film, which is a sequel to That’ll be the Day, shows how rock-star, Jim MacLaine, rapidly climbs the ladder of success while he loses almost everything on personal front. Jim’s supposed best friend and manager Mike is largely the root cause, though he pretends to do everything for Jim’s good. Ultimately, the star ends up with drug addiction and other issues. 

This musical drama film tells the story of Jim MacLaine, a young boy who lives with his mother Mary, and his grandfather. He sees that he doesn’t have much interest in education, and he prefers to spend most of his time writing poetry and listening to music. Eventually, he decides to stop wasting time, and thinks of following his passion for music. He decides to pursue a dream of becoming a rock n’ roll star.

Realizing the futility of it all, they decide to return home.
