

Capucine is best known for her role as the wife of Inspector Clouseau, who is having an affair with the jewel thief, in the movie ‘The Pink Panther’ (1963). She started her career with a minor role in ‘The Eagle with Two Heads’ in 1948.
During her early career she appeared in French comedy films like ‘Rendezvous in July’ (1949) and ‘Bernard and the Lion’ (1951).
She moved to Hollywood but was not successful with her attempt to audition for the Western movie ‘Rio Bravo’ in 1959. However, she did not give up and landed with her first role in an English language movie as princess Carolyne-zu Sayn-Wittgenstein in the biopic film ‘Song Without End’ (1960). Her next movie ‘North to Alaska’ (1960) with John Wayne received mixed reviews.
After appearing in a number of European and American movies, she received positive reviews for her performance in the comedy film ‘What’s New Pussycat?’ (1965). However, the movie was not a commercial success.
Capucine went on to appear in a number of television series during her later career. These include ‘The Orient Express’ and ‘Murder She Wrote.’
